House Mixes Family,

I absolutely Love and embrace a good mix competition.  I feel like it brings out the best in all of us DJ's.  When I saw that the new competiton was in the "Soulful House Genre" I became extremely excited. I pride myself on being a versatile DJ that mixes a broad range of genres. While that is true, I have really gotten away from so many great genres that used to be the core of my up bringing. This Competition actually takes me back to my roots of Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Jazz, and percussion. I have my own personal preferences on how I mix my tracks together.  Never the less, I always welcome constructive criticism. Everyones ear is different, and everyone has there own perception of how tracks should be mixed together. I have great trust and faith in my own ear,  but I always keep an open mind to others feedback.  No matter what a DeeJay's experience level is, there are plenty of other techniques that can be learned and added to ones arsenal.  As the mix competitions have specific time limits this mix left me wanting to do a lot more Soulful House mix sets. You can definitely expect to hear a lot more from me in this specific genre very soon.

To everyone who enjoys Soulful House, I hope that my mix touches your soul and gives you a good feeling overall.  For anyone who enjoys my mix set, I would greatly appreciate your comments and or feedback. To the fellow DJ's in the competition, you all  make this exciting for me. I absolutely love to listen to good Soulful House mixes. At my convenience and free time, I will definitely be giving a few of the mixes a good listening ear.

Sincerely,

DJ JBVicious

Nice very smooth mix but I do notice that a lot of the transitions are fade-outs ....... just something that caught my attention (and something I never do myself) ........ good luck in the competition! ............. regards, djlucien ..................... (I'm using this djlucien-test account at this moment because I still cannot write comments using my original djlucien account ...... Paul is aware of this and trying to fix the issue of me not being able to write comments on mixes)

Not a fan of self promotion on the middle of mixes. fine at the beginning and I guess ok at the very end but not in the mix just food for thought. good luck!

DJ Lucien,

Hey brother, I appreciate your taking the time to listen to my mix. I also appreciate your commenting and giving your honest feedback. Per your comment... (Noticing a lot of the transitions are fade-outs) I wanted you to elaborate on the other techniques that you use in your own personal mixes? You have definitely sparked my interest to compare your style of mixing minus fade-outs vs. my own personal style. I always keep an open mind to new techniques. Keep in mind I do all my mixes Live. I know some dj's are using softwares that sync there beat matching. For myself, I do my mixes Live and beat match / pitch bend every one of my transitions manually. I thank you much for your comment and feedback. Going to listen to your mix set asap. Good Luck as well in the competition. JBVicious

Stuhor,
I appreciate your listening and commenting on my competition mix. I appreciate your honesty in reference to your not being a fan of self promotion. For myself, it definitely doesn't come from a place of arrogance. I more so like to protect my hard work and personal mix projects by stamping them with my personal DJ Drops. I've heard way to many stories of people hi-jacking others mixes online and pretending that they were the ones that put the mix together. There is not too many things that are lower then taking credit for hard work that is not your very own. So once again, I appreciate your honesty and your opinion. I just tend to do this on all of my mix sets. I try not to get carried away with it though. A few drops here and there, sometimes and intro or outro depending on the mix and how convenient it is for me to through in a sample. Thank You Much for your feedback. Regards, JBVicious

DJCityKid... Appreciate your listening ear and your comment. As for your offer to do an online radio mix show, I actually used to do an online show a few years back. I had to withdraw myself as I am a family man and my priority with family responsibilities has to come first before my DJ Lifestyle. Thank you much for your offer.
